How To Clean Solder Gun Tip

How to clean solder gun tip. The cellulose and abrasions in the sponge gently clean off your tip. Just rub the soldering iron tip on it after each solder. With the iron tip cold use a polishing bar.
If it doesnt you need to remove all solder and grind the tip again more thoroughly. Just try to wipe it off after every 4-5 solder joints. This should lead to a clean shiny tip ready for use.
This comes in a little pot that you push the tip into. To use the Tip tinnercleaner heat the soldering iron. Then dip into the tin of tinner cleaner with a slight twisting action.
Nasty stuff isnt it. Another option is to use tip cleaner. Each of these items is soft and pliable allowing the tip to become clean from all angles.
Make sure the tip is clean - preferably using a scrubber made of copper swarf. Clean the tinned tip. Use a soldering iron to heat the solder you want to remove.
Then immediately re-tin the tip with rosin core solder. This is where I suggest using my next soldering tip. Tin the tip with a small amount of solder wiping the excess off with the scrubber.
