An alternative to these is either gasoline or Varsol but I strongly recommend NOT using either on painted surfaces. Apply some of the metal polish directly onto the exhaust tips if you are using Autosol just squeeze some directly out of the tube onto the tip. You wont need too much of the product to get a good finish so dont go overboard with it.

I use a flapper wheel on a die grinder if its big enough and on smaller tube you can use a ss plumbers brush made for copper tubing. Clean the exhaust pipe -Use a wheel brush and a degreaser to get inside of the exhaust pipe. The degreaser will act to break up interior carbon deposits and rust.
